Saturday:Sunshine and Shadows

30 Mar

“Some people seemed to get all sunshine, and some all shadow…”
― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
It was a beautiful sunny day here in McKinney. The Square was bustling with shoppers, families and diners. I spent nearly eight hours enjoying the hospitality of my favorite town.

Now, with daylight saving time, it stays light a lot longer. When I got home, the sun made some beautiful shadows on the wall. I am always amazed at the delightful way the sun dances with shapes and shadows.

After snapping a few pictures, I put on my gym shoes and went for a long walk/run, hoping to chase the last couple of hours of sunlight. A beautiful orange sunset topped off the day.

I love your sunshine and shadow play. Do you remember those portraits people used to do, put a paper on the wall, seat you on a chair with a light on the other side from the paper, and then someone would trace your shadow on the paper? I find myself thinking about those a lot. I would like to do my kids.

You can take a profile picture of them, print it out and trace and cut out on top of black paper. Voila! Silhouettes.

That’s what they were called!! You did remember. 🙂 I remember sitting for one. We did them in school.
