Wednesday Words of Wisdom: Getting Back on the Horse

3 Apr

“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.” — Marie Curie
Perseverance and confidence, two words to strive for, to live for. You can only move forward, one step at a time. I’ve been in a holding pattern for a long time, but today, I felt revitalized when I stepped back on the tennis courts after not playing in almost a year. Time to “get back on the horse” and start getting back to the things I love, the things that I put on the back burners.

I missed playing tennis and the tennis girls who have been the greatest friends, some for almost ten years. I didn’t want to let them down so I didn’t commit to play as a regular, just to sub if they needed me. Today, they needed me, but I needed to play again to start getting back my confidence. Not just about tennis, but about everything.

I was a bit rusty, but Judy and I managed to win one set. Of course, Judy had to run all over the courts like a mad woman to cover me. It was wonderful to get back on the horse, back on the courts, back to my life…one step at a time.
