Sunday: Sights and Sounds in My New Surroundings

“Part of the process of beginning anew, or changing directions is to know where you want to go. I know this sounds simplistic and easy, but this is one of the most difficult of choices to make with clarity.” Byron Pulsifer, May Is Not Just For Flowers

Sunday starts out with a simple ” Thank You” at 9 o’clock Mass. A thank you for His blessings and strength. I have a lot to be thankful for.

I’ve started a new tradition. It’s called SUPER LAZY SUNDAY. I don’t feel guilty about not cleaning, doing laundry, or unpacking any of the quadrillion moving boxes. I give myself the day off.

So, today on super lazy Sunday, I decided it was a good day to take a walk around my new neighborhood. I used to walk at least five or six miles a day at my old house, and I haven’t walked in weeks since I’ve moved. It was a lovely evening, so I searched for my gym shoes and headed out the door.

There’s a lot of new construction, so I had to stroll down sidewalks that ended into muddy streets. On my walking adventure, I did find several humongous construction nails in the street that I picked up and tossed into the debris piles. (Side note- I had to buy a brand new tire last week because of a big nail.)

Here are a few pictures of what I saw on my walk.

I have a cute little park right across the street from me. I sat on the bench and looked up at the sky through the leaves. A lovely lazy Sunday.

I’m not sure where I want to go, but I have a new place to start it in.

Yes we are, my friend. I hope you have some time to relax and have a lazy day. I know it is difficult with small children. But then, they are such a blessing, even if you have no time to rest. They will grow so fast. Enjoy every moment.

I am learning how to relax though seldom due to small children and workload.

Here’s to picking up discarded, rusty nails and tossing them into a debris pile. Here’s to grabbing well-worn gym shoes and noticing points of beauty on a walk with nature. Here’s to Super Lazy Sunday when you can rest and reflect and commune with Him. Here’s to expectation and hope, new traditions and renewal of old gold. Here’s to a friend who finds the silver and the shade, who trades worn for fresh-made, who calls an AH spade a spade.
