Friday:New Friends and New Flowers

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like “What about lunch?”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

This morning, I went for a nice long walk with my new friend Diane. New neighborhood, new friends. She lives just down the street and she likes to walk, too. We met at 7:30 this morning and walked for about an hour, then I took a couple of more laps when she went home before I headed
back.

I knew we were destined to become good friends because she uses those “easy words like “What about lunch?” We met later for a leisurely lunch at Jason’s Deli, then drove over to Home Depot and Lowes in search of some Crepe Myrtles and flowers. She found a white tree and I picked up a red Knock Out rose bush. I was excited, as this will be my first flower planting in my new house. A new flower for a new home and a new beginning, the cycle of life. I didn’t plant it in the ground when I got home because we are supposed to get some really big storms tonight or tomorrow. I don’t want it to drown it’s first day home.

Starting over isn’t always easy, but there are small stepping stones that make the path a little easier to travel.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s Black Russian Friday.
