Sunday Sermon and Some Other Stuff

17 Nov

“Cherish every moment with those you love at every stage of your journey.”
― Jack Layton
Today’s first reading was the proverb telling husbands to cherish their wives. If she is a worthy, loyal, God fearing woman, she is more valuable then precious gems.

This is true in of any relationship, be it husband, wife, son, daughter, sister, brother, or friend. We should cherish every moment, every person that comes into our lives. If you do not appreciate these gifts and cherish these people, it is your loss. You don’t get a second chance…
33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time 2014
First Reading
Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31
When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains wool and flax and works with loving hands. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her a reward for her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.
So, here’s the other stuff…

After Mass, I stopped at the grocery store. Big mistake. I was hungry, and filled up my cart with massive quantities of junk food. I bought 6 jars of peanuts…yes, 6! (They were on sale, $1.99. Say no more.) Also, pecans, cheese puffs, pretzels, cream cheese, and 2 containers of ice cream. I did get some frozen broccoli and peas, for a rainy day.

Well, it was raining, but I threw the veggies in the freezer and got out a spoon to sample the chocolate peanut butter ice cream before putting it in the freezer and putting away the rest of the groceries. Priorities! And remember, don’t go to the store hungry!

After feeling a little guilty for eating ice cream for breakfast, I changed and went out for a walk in the semi-freezing drizzly rain. Then, I did some laundry, did a little housework, and decided to make a warm nutritious dinner. Being semi-lazy, creative, with a lot of left overs in the freezer, I opened a can of cream of chicken soup, threw in left over Mexican chicken fajita/beans/rice/spinach concoction, making a hearty yummy soup. I made a grilled cheese on my George Foreman, and plopped a handful of spinach with some tomatoes for a quick salad. Pretty plate and presentation. Actually, pretty healthy and tasty.

I guess I did a lot for a lazy Sunday. It’s supposed to be my day off! Hmmm! Maybe some more chocolate peanut butter ice cream as a reward later.

Great soup idea! Cherish is the word I use to describe…all the feelings that I have for you inside. (David Cassidy) you don’t hear that word much, which gives it more meaning.
