Theme Song Thursday and Theme Word for 2015

2 Jan

“For within your flesh, deep within the center of your being, is the undaunted, waiting, longing, all-knowing. Is the ready, able, perfect. Within you, waiting its turn to emerge, piece by piece, with the dawn of every former test of trial and blackness, is the next unfolding, the great unfurling of wings, the re-forged backbone of a true Child of Light.”

Today is the first day of 2015. It’s a new day, a new year, a new everything. Many of my friends pick a word that will be their mantra or theme to give them inspiration for the entire year. I always struggle to find the perfect word. What would you choose?

I thought long and hard, and I knew it had to be a word that began with “re.” I went to the dictionary and thesaurus, and looked at every word that started with “re.” There are a lot, believe me. Here’s what I came up with…

RENEWAL
re·new·al\ri-ˈnü-əl, -ˈnyü-\
noun
: the act of extending the period of time when something is effective or valid : the act of renewing something
: the state of being made new, fresh, or strong again : the state of being renewed
Full Definition
1 : the act or process of renewing : repetition
2 : the quality or state of being renewed
3 : something (as a subscription to a magazine) renewed
4 : something used for renewing; specifically : an expenditure that betters existing fixed assets
5 : the rebuilding of a large area (as of a city) by a public authority
*************

I like RENEWAL! A state of being made new, fresh, or strong again. I especially like being made strong again. Yes, that’s the perfect word. This will be my word for 2015.

Do you have a word? What is it? If you don’t have one yet, think about it, and let me know what word you picked.

I looked for the perfect theme song for today. I almost picked a sad song, but then found this. Yep! This, is much better.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, MY FRIENDS! It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new year.

Wednesday Words of Wisdom for a New Year

1 Jan

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.”

(Little Gidding)”
― T.S. Eliot

“No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of a new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new book is newly opened, has just begun! Look, it is the first page! And it is a beautiful one!”

I can’t say that I’m sad to see this year end. It was a long, painful, horrible and devastating year. The good news is, it can only get better. It will be better! I’m in my new house, starting my new life, and that first book that I thought would have that happily-ever-after ending is now closed. So, I will write a new book. Really! I’m going to write a book. It will be about how that old book and those heartbreaking chapters made me stronger. It will be sad, messy, painful, and funny all rolled into one big docu-drama. When that’s written, I’ll be able to start writing a new happy chapter for my new beautiful book. I’m a writer…that’s what I do.

I have lovely memories to lean on, loving friends and family to share my days with, and new hopes and dreams for the future. Now, to start writing. Stay tuned and buckle up, it’s gonna be a wild ride.
