Wednesday:Words of Wisdom: Fifty Shades of Garbage

“When you’re silent, your silence condones it. Thus, whatever you believe in goes down the drain.”
― Jennifer Tindugan-Adoviso
Ok, right off the bat, this is going to be controversial. I usually don’t do controversial, but today I am. I can’t remain silent. There seems to be a great big buzz about the movie release this week, “Fifty Shades of Grey.” I didn’t read the book, never intend on reading it or going to see the movie.

My life is already fifty shades of grey. I have so much unruly grey hair, my new house is painted mostly grey, and my world and my life has been in a very dark grey place for quite a while. I’ve had enough grey to last me a lifetime.

Do I consider my self a prude? Damn straight, I do! Did I just say damn? That’s about as foul as you’ll ever hear from me. I’m not into profanity, pornography or immorality. I’m an old fashioned girl and a self-proclaimed “goody-two-shoes”. I still believe that love, vows, marriage, sex, and relationships are sacred. I guess that is why I am divorced after 39 years of marriage and now single. He didn’t believe in any of those things. (Did I say that out loud? Yes, I did.)

Here in lies the controversy. Many women are on the band wagon, saying that they are not going to go see the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey,” or read the book. Some are saying that good Christian women should boycott. I say, “Do what you feel is right in your heart.” I just feel that the morals in our society are going to hell in a hand-basket, someone even said, in a bullet train. I don’t care to see garbage on the big screen, thanks anyway. I’m standing up,for what I believe in. You want to see it, feel free.

Here’s a little comic relief from Dave Barry if you want to read more.

You need to have an honest, no-holds-barred conversation about sex with the special woman in your life — provided you’re a superhot billionaire who can move without being seen

I’m standing up for what I believe in, I always have and always will.

Here’s another viewpoint worthy of reading. I thought this was well written. The author received thousands of comments, and not all very nice. I don’t get it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You don’t have to blast everyone that doesn’t agree with yours. (Hint…hint)
