Wednesday:) Words of Wisdom and Your Health

“Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship.”

Last year was an interim year for medical tests. I put off everything because I had one of those fly by night insurance plans because all the others were so expensive. This wasn’t cheap, but it beat $1,200 a month out of pocket for the name brand policies. I had to use only doctors in their network, and my favorite family physicians wasn’t one of them. I only had to make it through 2017, just one more year before Medicare. Yay! I did it.

Your health is so important. As Buddha said, it is the greatest gift. So, I was excited to make my appointment to see Dr, Moolamalla again. She has seen me through a lot of good times and bad over a dozen years. When I made the appointment, the receptionist asked for my name and said, “Doctor was just asking about you. She’ll be happy to see you.” I appreciated her so much that I had given her a framed print of one of my paintings for her office when she opened her own practice. She treasured it, and often pointed it out to patients when they admired it.

So, after donning the delightful paper gown, and enduring the usual, not so pleasant annual exam, we talked about our families, her girls in college and my sons, and catching up on health and happiness. She also checked my latest medical history and made sure I left with scripts and referrals for all the tests and vaccinations that I need to catch up on. This getting old stuff isn’t fun, but it’s much easier when you have a very good and caring physician to help you along the way.

Please take care of your health and keep up with your medical tests. You only have one life and one body. Make yourself a priority.
