Thursday:) The Art Club of McKinney

13 Apr

“To create one’s world in any of the arts takes courage.”

~Georgia O’Keeffe

I’m glad I checked my calendar on my phone before I went to bed last night. Well, actually, it was around 2 in the morning. I thought, I can just sleep in, nothing till karaoke at night. Wrongo! I had forgotten about The Art Club of Mckinney April meeting at 9:30. This meant setting the alarm for 7:30 so I could walk the dog before I left. Yikes, scramble.

Then, I got half way to the meeting when I realized that I left my phone on the kitchen counter. Panic! I think I said a cuss word out loud. I was going to turn around when I said to myself, “You can do this. You can go three or four hours without your phone,” it was scary, but I did it, I’m so proud of myself. When I got tomArt Club, I felt empowered. A little vulnerable, naked, and scared, but empowered.

You know what is the best part of the monthly meetings? Seeing all of my talented friends and going to lunch afterwards. Ha!

Our guest artist was Noriko Dewitt, an extremely talented colored pencil artist.

I borrowed Sherry Joplin’s phone to take some pictures. Thanks for sharing Miss Sherry.

Noriko demonstrated many informative techniques and explained her intricate drawing process. Personally, colored pencil is WAY TOO labor intensive for me. I don’t have the patience or the talent. Noriko is blessed with both.
