Sunday Sermon and a Sunrise

3 Sep

“Beware the self-righteous man, for he will destroy the world many times over before he sees his folly.”

― Stewart Stafford

Another lovely Sunday. It’s always inspiring to catch a magnificent sunrise first thing in the morning on my walk. Then, off to church and greeting at the door with Mary and Jerry.

Today’s Gospel was about the people who complained to Jesus that some of His disciples were eating with unclean hands and not observing the traditions of the elders. Jesus said…

“This people honors me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me;

in vain do they worship me,

teaching as doctrines human precepts.

You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition.”

MY take on it… it’s not important what you do and say just for show, while people are looking at you. What’s important, what’s genuine, is what you do and how you act when no one is watching. God knows what’s in your heart.

Yep, it’s what’s inside that counts.
