Sunday Sermon and Other Stuff

2 Sep

“How does one remain humble at the sight of glory ? the answer is simple no glory ever truly belongs to any mortal man.”

― Shemar Stephens

A beautiful Sunday morning, with many smiling faces and hugs greeting at the door before Mass.

The Gospel from Luke today was the parable of the guests at a wedding feast, and how they took the places of honor. He said it was better to take the lowest place, then the host might come and invite to a higher place. Also, don’t invite friends and rich relations, but invite the poor, crippled and blind, and those who cannot repay you. Then you will be blessed.

11 “For everyone who raises himself up will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be raised up.”

My take on it… well, this I learned from my sweet angel mother. Never be boastful or proud. Mom always taught us to give from your heart without expecting anything in return. She was always doing nice things for people. Random acts of kindness for strangers are the best. Your joy comes from the act of giving.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the rest of my day. Usually I stop at the store, but I still had a fridge and freezer full of food, so I went straight home. I decided to roast all my left over veggies. I had carrots, celery, broccoli, spinach, and cauliflower with some olive oil and garlic.

Then, I saved half for another time, and made some pasta for the other half.

Well, you would think that would have satisfied my cooking frenzy. I didn’t feel like eating any of it. So, I texted Helene and asked her if she and the gals might want to meet later at Braum’s for dinner and ice cream. I was hankering a frozen yogurt twist cone. That was my dinner. I love their frozen yogurt, plus it was nice to meet some friends for dinner and laughter.

I came home in time to take a nice long walk and catch the sunset. Even the bunnies were out for an evening stroll.

The perfect end to a perfect day. Happy Sunday, my friends.

Beautiful sunsets…maybe they’ll be on your glasswear someday?
