Tuesday:) Toni Has the Most Terrific Friends

8 Jan

“Friendship is so weird…you just pick a human you’ve met and you’re like ‘Yep, I like this one’ and you just do stuff with them.” — Unknown

I have been blessed with the most amazing friends. Since I arrived back home last Thursday, I hit the ground running and haven’t stopped for a minute. Yesterday and today were pretty busy. Monday was the afternoon dance at the senior center. My cell phone health tracker said I took over 7,000 steps yesterday, and most of those were at the dance. Helene and I stopped for an iced tea afterwards, then went directly to Delaney’s to meet friends for dinner around 5:30.

Miss Pat baked a couple of birthday cakes, one for me and one for Mary. I requested chocolate, and the other was her famous Elvis cake. We had a big turn out,

Today was a strange day. I was all set to run all my errands, but when I went to start my car, it was deader than a door nail. I called my friend/neighbor Mr. Mike, and he drove over to see if he could start it. Nope! So, I called AAA. In the meantime, Mike left me his car and said I could use it all day if I needed to go anywhere or if my car needed to be towed. He walked home. I have the greatest friends.

AAA came about an hour later, and thank goodness, it was just a dead battery, which is strange, because it was only about 15 months old. But, it was a AAA battery, so Robin, the nice serviceman replaced it for free. Thank you, Robin.

When Mr. Mike was over, he noticed that I had a couple of packages at my front door. I smiled when I saw who they were from.

Auntie Ann, my sister-in-law, sent me a beautiful cross to add to my cross collection, and a tin of homemade goodies. She’s a wonderful baker. (A gift-a curse. I ate 7 before I called to thank her.)

The other package was from my VERY good friend Lin. She sent me a gorgeous locket and necklace set, and a beautiful travel cup with a quote about best friends. I will use it all the time and think of my beautiful friend Lin.

When I got my mail, there was a really cool birthday card from my awesome friend Debbie, and inside was a gift card to Olive Garden. She knows how I love their eggplant Parmesan. My friends know me so well.

I’m already celebrating my birthday and receiving cool gifts and cakes and cookies, and my birthday isn’t for a few days yet.

There was so much cake and so many cookies left from Miss Pat’s baking, that I took the leftovers over to Station 9. Luckily, I had quite a lot because it looked like they were doing some training or having a meeting. There were vehicles from four or five different stations. I walked in and interrupted their meeting, but they appreciated the cake and cookies. We have the coolest fire fighters here in McKinney.

On with the celebrations……. busier days to come. Do I have the greatest friends or what?
