Sunday Sermon and Some Other Stuff

6 Jul

“Burdens become light when cheerfully borne.

This morning, well, another morning Mass in my pajamas. I guess the archdiocese isn’t televising the Bishop’s Mass at 11 anymore. The good news is, St. Gabriel records Mass on Facebook that can be viewed any time. Plus, this weekend, we welcome our new Parochial Vicar, Fr. Jacob Dankasa.

Today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us that all those who are burdened who seek comfort in the Lord will find rest.

Mathew 11

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,

and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

for I am meek and humble of heart;

and you will find rest for yourselves.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

My take on it…. our burdens are very heavy if we carry them alone. We have family and friends to lean on, but someone who will always be there, day or night, thick or thin, is God, no questions asked. Nice, right?

The rest of my Sunday was uneventful, except for lots of loads of laundry, a few phone calls, and some social media mania. I didn’t even go for an evening walk, too steamy hot. But, I did pop outside to check out the evening sky.

Happy Sunday, my friends.

    We were never meant to carry our burdens solo, that’s for sure.
