Sunday Sermon and Some Other Stuff:) Happy Mother’s Day

8 May

“I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.”

Abraham Lincoln

Another beautiful Sunday, and to make it even more beautiful, it is also Mother’s Day. I have been blessed with two wonderful sons, but also I was blessed with an Angel Mother, who guides me from heaven now.

Father Don gave all the mother’s a special blessing.

I drove into the parking lot at church just as I saw the Chateau bus driving in. I ran like the wind, well, actually like a slow gust in a dust bowl, through the parking lot to the back doors to greet the ladies. I had a little gift and a hug for them on this beautiful Mother’s Day. I made it just in time. I’m not fast. I took a short cut. The smiles were priceless.

Today’s Gospel was short and sweet… Jesus is the shepherd that recognize His voice and follow Him.

Jn 10:27-30

Jesus said:
“My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
No one can take them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.
The Father and I are one.”

My take on it… Jesus is the shepherd who tends His flock. Once you know His voice, you will follow and be protected and loved forever. It’s kind of fitting also on Mother’s Day. Children recognize their mother’s voice at birth, and they are guided and nurtured, protected and loved forever. (Well, in most cases. Just speaking from personal experience.)

After Mass, Jerry and Patricia joined me and Helene at McD for coffee and breakfast. Mr.Jerry was kind enough to treat all of us lovely ladies today. Very sweet. Thank you Jerry.

I didn’t need anything from the store, so I came right home after McD. I missed a FaceTime call this morning from the grandkids. But, I know they’ll call later. I received a sweet message from my youngest in California this morning before church. 6 am, his time. So this has been a great day already.

Happy Mother’s Day to one and all.
