“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, for in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”
— Khalil Gibran

You know how you know when you’re getting old? You have to leave a big note on your kitchen counter that says, CALL LIN.! Today is my old dear wonderful amazing friend’s birthday back home. She’s not old…I’m older, but she is all the other afore mentioned things. A few years back, I plum forgot to call her on her birthday, and I felt horrible, because she never forgets mine. Maybe because she is so much younger, maybe two years. So, I left myself a note.🤦♀️
I called her cell, but there was no answer, so I left a message and sang, “Las Mañanitas (Mexican birthday song) in my raspy cold-like off key voice and my very poor Spanish pronunciation. Then, I tried her home phone, and she answered. We talked for 1 hour and 11 minutes. While we were talking, she laughed because she saw a red cardinal outside her window. Perhaps her dad saying hello. The funny thing is after we hung up, I looked out my front window to see if it was cloudy or raining, and there was a grey female cardinal outside my window. (My mom saying hello. Mom doesn’t like to be outdone.)

Then, this evening, the old gang is getting together to celebrate Richard’s birthday at the VFW with karaoke, singing, dancing, birthday cake and old friends we haven’t seen in ages.

Good friends, good times. Happy Friday.
