Montage Monday, Honoring My Mom, and International Women’s Day

9 Mar

“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.” —Maya Angelou

My Montage Monday… a week in a peek…

A fine week with fine friends and fine weather.

Now, a brief tribute to my angel mother on this International Women’s Day.

My mother was a hurricane with endless colors, as Ms. Angelou quoted. She had endless energy with a constant thirst for knowledge and boundless love for everything and everyone who knew her. I always remember her working two jobs, taking care of her family and friends, taking classes and learning how to do everything she put her mind to. She was the perfect role model and perfect example of an International Woman.

Trinidad Aguirre-Armenta was a self-taught artist, only to start expressing herself in her paintings after she retired when she was 65. She loved creating scenes from her Mexican heritage and Catholic Faith.
These are just a few of her paintings.
This one is my favorite. A young lady musician teaching and encouraging a young girl how to play the guitar and how to love music.

You are missed MOM. I hope you’re painting, dancing, laughing, singing, and playing music in heaven.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global holidaycelebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.[3] It is also a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence against women.[4]

Montage Monday and Miss Pat’s Birthday

2 Mar

  1. “A birthday is a day that brings
Much celebration and so we sing,
A very Happy Birthday to You
Our life would not be complete without You.”
    ~Catherine Pulsifer
Miss Pat loves Elvis. When she blew out her candle, we almost expected him to walk in the door singing “Love Me Tender.”

Such a sweet lady. Literally, she’s “THE COOKIE LADY,” and we all carry around quite a few extra pounds to prove it.

Now, for my week in a peek. It was a pretty slow, cold, scary week, with hail, crazy winds and constant rain. But, we are still alive and kickin’. Life is good.

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” -C.S. Lewis

It certainly was a very crazy week. A couple of days ago it was 7 below zero and today it was 70°. Crazy!!!! Welcome to Texas.

“The uneventful day is a precious gift.”— Abraham Verghese

Oh my, I have SO MANY precious gifts if that is true. Many uneventful days, but perhaps that is a good thing.

A week in an uneventful peek…

Happy Monday, my friends! 🤗

“Even though February was the shortest month of the year, sometimes it seemed like the longest.”
― JD Robb

February is here already. January came in like a lion and out like an old exhausted wounded lion with a mask on, distancing and washing his big ‘ol paws. I’m optimistic that the days and weeks and months will get better. Call me crazy… most do. ❤️

“The rain has stopped, and the sun came out. And that my friends, is what it’s all about. PATIENCE.”

~Toni Armenta Andrukaitis

Finally, the rain has stopped. I was going to sing “Rainy days and Mondays,” today, but no need. Maybe I should sing, “Here comes the Sun.” It’s a good day to sing.

Happy Monday, my friends. A week in a peek…

“I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.”

~Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Never give up your dream, my friends. Today is a good day to be reminded with Dr. King’s words.

Here’s my week in a peek… livin’ the dream…

“ The nice part about having so many wonderful friends and family member is that when it’s your birthday, you get to celebrate all month and you get all kinds of awesome gifts and well wishes.”

~Toni Armenta Andrukaitis

I’ve been celebrating my birthday all week. I’m still getting cards, phone calls, and gifts in the mail. I must be pretty AMAZING! Just sayin’.

Here’s a week in a peek…

“You normally have to be dashed about a bit by life to see the point of daffodils, sunsets, and uneventful nice days.”

~Alain de Botton

A pretty uneventful mundane Monday here. I had been playing phone tag with a few friends these past couple of days. So today was catch up on the phone day, Four hours and forty-seven consecutive minutes on the phone with friends and my left arm is numb and I hear a strange ringing and buzzing sound in my ear. Well, not actual ringing, but I think I can get Radio Free Europe in my head if I stand close to the microwave.

Here’s a week in a peak… (I’ve been dashed about a bit.)

Montage Monday:) A Week In A Crazy Covid Christmas Peek

29 Dec

“After all the gifts are opened, the wrapping paper thrown everywhere, the cookies are baked, the dinner is devoured, the sink is piled high with dishes, and the kids are in bed, you know what is left? Yep! A BIG MESS! Just a big mess!”

~ Toni Armenta Andrukaitis

Well, that is right, sort of, isn’t it? All that work and trouble for a couple of hours of holiday hoopla, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. This was a crazy year, and I didn’t get to see my family or friends for Christmas. But, I thank the powers that be that I’m healthy and doing well, and hopefully next year will be awesome.

A week in a Crazy Covid Christmas Peek…

You know what is left? A big mess. I’ll get to it by New Years…maybe.

Happy Monday, my friends.
