Theme Song Thursday:) These are a Few of My Favorite Things

15 Sep

The things that I do

The things that I see

The people I love

The world around me

I feel with my soul

I see with my heart

Sharing my blessings

Till death do us part

~Toni Armenta Andrukaitis

There’s always something to be thankful for, and here are a few of my favorite things: Beautiful fluffy white clouds, friends, family, art, music, a glorious sunset, the quiet peace of a church, or meeting a stranger. Every day holds magical possibilities. If not… There’s always chocolate ice cream and Black Russians on Friday.

Out of my 1,973 photos in my current photo album on my iPad to choose from, these are just a few of my favorite things.

Tuesday:) Talkin’ Terrific Food

22 Jun

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

As promised, more Chicago food traditions. I told you about the Chicago hot dog with tomato, dark green relish, diced onion, small peppers, a slice of kosher picke, sprinkled  with celery salt on a poppy seed bun. Then, a huge bunch of greasy freshly cut thin fries piled on the side. Ketchup for the fries, NEVER on the hot dog. Gosh…I miss these back in Texas.

I had some thin crust pizza, crisp and heavy with sauce, spicy Italian sausage,  and cheese. The cheese melted to the point of almost brown, the crust crisp as a cracker.

Then, there’s the deep dish pizza with carmelized crust. OMG!!! One slice is a meal, and two slices you explode. I had two slices that day.

My neighbor, Kathy called me this afternoon and asked if I could give her a ride to pick up her car over in Plano. I was already almost where she needed to go, but had to drive home to McKinney to pick her up, then turn around and take her back to Park  near Preston. But, the good news was, it wasn’t far from the liquor store. I was running low on vodka and Kahlua for my Black Russians. I only go a couple times a year, so I stock up when I get over there. You can’t buy hard liquor in McKinney, just beer and wine.

So, on my way home, I went up Preston Road because there is Toatal Wine and More with a Michael’s craft store two doors down. SCORE! My two favorite places side by side. I even wrote a poem about it…( Think of the song from the Sound of Music)

Kahlua with vodka with some chocolate ice cream

A glass full of happy before my good night dream

Note cards and new paint, my heart all a twitter

Do not get me started on the prospect of glitter

I popped into Michaels, they had a great sale

Total Wine two doors down for my vodka and ale

If you’d like to share in my crafts and my liquor

You don’t need to call, come on over it’s quicker

I stocked up on my liquor. Don’t judge me! This should last me a few weeks. Just kidding, a few months, unless a lot of friends stop by.

A dozen containers of extra fine glitter for my ornaments on sale and more note cards and paint for painting homemade greeting cards. Did I mention the great sale at Michael’s plus an addition 25% off toatal purchase? SCORE!

Time to practice what I preach. Cheers!

Theme Song Thursday: “These Are A Few Of Myth Favorite Things.”

10 Apr

“We don’t need to have just one favorite. We keep adding favorites. Our favorite book is always the book that speaks most directly to us at a particular stage in our lives. And our lives change. We have other favorites that give us what we most need at that particular time. But we never lose the old favorites. They’re always with us. We just sort of accumulate them.”

― Lloyd Alexander

Today was a busy, fun, wonderful day. So, I’m going to share it with you. I started out with an exhilarating Zumba class, quick change and off to Art Club of McKinney meeting, followed by lunch at the Pantry on the square with friends, thrift shopping with Sherry, stopped to visit  my dear friend Kathy in the hospital, then home for a long walk. Are you exhausted just reading this?

Christie Ray gave us a fantastic demonstration and brought examples of dozens of various art mediums. She is amazing and had wonderful tips and tricks to share. Awesome!

After lunch, thrift store shopping and visiting Miss Kathy at Baylor, this is what I saw on my walk. People ask why I walk so much. Look at what I get to see every day.

Storm on the way!

What a difference a day makes! This is my new little rose bush in my front yard…yesterday and then today.

I am so blessed.
