Tuesday Tunes:) Back In The Saddle Again

29 Jun

“Gotta love a messy kitchen. It means somethin’s cookin'”

“Normal is an ideal. But it’s not reality. Reality is brutal, it’s beautiful, it’s every shade between black and white, and it’s magical. Yes, magical. Because every now and then, it turns nothing into something.”

― Tara Kelly, Harmonic Feedback

Getting back to normal here. I went to Zumba this morning. I forgot half of the songs and routines, and there were a couple of new ones that I missed, but I got back into the swing. (Get it? Swing?) we do a lot of dancing, swinging and swaying. I just happened to be going the wrong way most of the time.

It’s been pretty hot here, so I’ve been laying low during the heat of the day. Thank goodness for air conditioning and the ceiling fans. I’m a big fan of the fan.

Now, that I’m back in the saddle, it was time to make brownies and funny brownie batter faces. My neighbors Diane and Richard kept an eye on my house while Imeas in Chicago, and tomorrow is Richard’s birthday, so I made some brownies. My immaculate kitchen is now back to its normal messy chaotic state. Gotta love a messy kitchen. It means somethin’s cookin’.

Funny face brownies.

Messy kitchen, complete with dirty laundry and mail that needs sorting. Back to normal, or whatever is my normal.

Thankful Theme Song Thursday:) Day Moon

26 Feb

” I always used to think of the moon as only an amazing nocturnal gift, but when I see it in the early morning, it affirms my belief that glorious beauty is out there all the time. Sometimes it’s hidden by the light of day or the dark serenity of night, but it’s always there.”

Yesterday, I posted about Mindfulness. It’s interesting how being aware of your surroundings, being grateful for your blessings, and allowing yourself to feel, experience, and share everything that life throws at you, good and bad, can bring joy into your life. Mind you, it’s not a euphoric constant state of la-la-land. But, I think starting each day with gratitude helps you with the hurdles.

I was out walking Bella this morning around 7:30. Right as I stepped out of the front door, there it was. The soft pale moon up against the crisp blue sky. I stood there in awe for a few seconds, then did what I always do…took out my phone to take a picture.

There it is! How often do we notice the wondrous things around us every day? This morning, I was grateful for the beautiful moon up in the early morning sky. What are you thankful for today? I bet if you sat down and thought about it, you would come up with a long list. I know I could.

Montage Monday and My Magnificent Sunset

16 Feb

A photo cannot capture that breathtaking feeling you get when you see a magnificent sunset, but it’s with a try.

My day in a nutshell…

I got up early to feed my doggie house guest, Miss Bella, and let her out. Went to my 8:30 kickboxing class at the YMCA, and it always kicks my butt and makes my brain work overtime, but I love it. Came home and took Bella for a long walk, lunch, emails, clean kitchen, procrastinate on Facebook, tinker on the piano, feed Bella, another walk, sit outside in the sun, more procrastinating, another quick walk to the pond to capture the glorious sunset…now, bore you with my day, and my week. I think I need a glass of wine!

Montage Monday…a week in a peek.

Now, for my magnificent sunset.

Wouldn’t you agree?
