Rainy Days and Mondays and My Montage

9 Mar
Gustave Flaubert

“Are the days of winter sunshine just as sad for you, too? When it is misty, in the evenings, and I am out walking by myself, it seems to me that the rain is falling through my heart and causing it to crumble into ruins.”
― Gustave Flaubert
It’s a yucky, dark, gloomy, rainy ,dreary Monday. I could go on, but I won’t. You know what cheered me up? I went on Google to look up the song I used to sing to my lboys when they were little. It says it is vintage. It was on Sesame Street in the 80’s. I guess anything over 30 years old is considered vintage (Boy, am I in trouble.) The song still pops into my head on a day like today. But, then, songs ALWAYS pop into my head. I have no control over that function.of my brain.

Montage Monday

12 May

“Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!”
Anne Frank
Another week slipped by with a blink of an eye. It was a good week, culminating with Mother’s Day flowers from my boys and phone calls. I’m hoping this next week will hold some good days and some good news.

Today is a rainy Monday. “Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.” Not really, but the song always pops in my head. We desperately need the rain here in north Texas, so everyone is lovin’ it.

Let’s hope so!

Montage Monday and More

15 Oct

I know we really could use all this rain but…”RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS ALWAYS GET ME DOWN.”

It’s Monday and it’s been raining all day. Can it get any gloomier? Well, here’s a week in a peek. It was a great week with great friends. A few bumps and drips, but still a great week.

Theme Song Thursday: Rainy Days and Mondays

19 Apr

“It was a dark and stormy night…” Just had to throw that old cliché opening line in. But, it actually was a stormy night and a gloomy morning. Wednesday I played tennis, got a little sun burn in the afternoon, and the inside of my house said 85. Today, the temp dropped into the forties, the morning was dark and rainy, and my mood matched the day. Thus, the following song.

If you read the lyrics, you might relate, as I did, to the profound words. I do talk to myself, nothing seems to fit…(clothes too tight), and today, all I did is hang around the house.

“Rainy Days And Mondays”

Talkin’ to myself and feelin’ old
Sometimes I’d like to quit
Nothing ever seems to fit
Hangin’ around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

What I’ve got they used to call the blues
Nothin’ is really wrong
Feelin’ like I don’t belong
Walkin’ around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

Funny but it seems I always wind up here
with you
Nice to know somebody loves me

Funny but it seems that it’s the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me.

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it’s all about
Hangin’ around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

Taco Tuesday

12 Feb

Every day should be a special day…don’t ya think? If we gave each day a label, we could make each one special. Yes, a category for each day, then at the end of the year, you could count how many Manic Mondays or Terrible Tuesdays you had. Wouldn’t it be great to have 50 Fabulous Fridays or 50 Wonderful Wednesdays? I think I’ll do that. At the end of the year, I’ll sum up all my categories and post the results.

“It was a dark and gloomy Tuesday.” I just wrote that for my writer friends, because we always joke about the cliché opening lines of stories that are so annoying. But, in fact, today was cold, dark, rainy and dreary all day long. But that’s OK, because, when the going gets dreary, the dreary go out to lunch with friends.

Today was Taco Tuesday at Rosa’s Cafe and Tortilla Factory in McKinney, so when I called my friend Della to see how she was feeling, she suggested going out to lunch. Well, you don’t have to ask me twice, or even once. The decor and colors in the place are so bright and cheery, that it could brighten up even the gloomiest of days. So, I’ll share some photos that I took at Rosa’s with my high tech super camera with telephoto lens…NOT! I used my iPhone. They turned out fine.
