Saturday:) Some More Spectacular Skies and Sunsets

22 Nov

“I think of the sky as God’s awesome easel where He paints a spectacular sky every single day.”

~ Toni Armenta Andrukaitis

Today, the sky was cloudy with a chance of pizza. Just kidding. I was thinking of that animated movie, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.” But, there is a good chance of leftover pizza from last night for my dinner.

My Saturday sky…

A few skies from earlier in the week…

Now this one, tell me if you see the Pterodactyl in the clouds, or is it a Velociraptor? Maybe an Eoraptor, but definitely some kind of Raptor. What do you think? You decide.

See it?

Oh my goodness, the night sky with the pale moon and stars against the midnight blue backdrop. Just WOW!

Masterpieces and magnificence in the sky.

Happy Saturday, my friends. I hope you look up in the sky now and then, pause, and see the awesome painting in the sky.

Saturday:) Some Awesome Sunsets and Skies

“I can’t help but stare in awe at the sky and soak in all the colors and hues that God painted in the heavens. Perhaps a preview.”

Wow, another steamy day here in north Texas. I got up early to beat the summer heat and trim my crepe myrtle tree. I was guilted into it, not being much of a horticulturist, I’ve said this many times. ” I can paint a tree or flowers. I just can’t grow trees or flowers.”

My friend Allison, and avid gardener invited me to go to Home Depot with her yesterday, and she bought a carload of trees and dirt. She talked me into one little tree. When she picked me up, I was chastised for the sad shape of my crepe myrtle and also that it was infested with aphids. Yuk! How would I know? I don’t look at such things,

So, I went out there this morning with those tall snippy cutter thingies, and trimmed the tree. I also trimmed back a few man-eating bushes that were over taking the flower bed. Then, I sprayed the tree with some buggy stuff that she recommended. I was sweatin’ bullets. I do love nature and plants and such, I just wished that God could take care of all that like he does the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Here’s my crepe myrtle all cute and trimmed. It was about twice the size before,

Some of my recent sunsets…

I guess sometimes even Mother Nature needs a helping hand.

Tuesday:) Turbulent Skies and a Turkey Carcass.

28 Jun

“Always seek less turbulent skies. Hurt. Fly above it. Betrayal. Fly above it. Anger. Fly above it. You are the one who is flying the plane.”

― Marianne Williamson

The sky threatened storms that never appeared, but the clouds were amazing. I love clouds.

Is it just me, or do you see a face in these clouds too? I see a mother with wispy hair holding her baby. Can you see it? Look at the nose in the center of the picture, the eye to the left, the mouth below.

Today, I made a turkey dinner. My extra frozen turkey had been in Mr. Mike’s freezer since Thanksgiving. It was buy one get one free. Couldn’t pass it up, but also had no room in my freezer. I cooked it today. No picture of the beautiful finished product. But, here are the “remains of the day.” It will be soup tomorrow, or whenever I get around to it. Lots of leftovers.

I’m sure I’ll keep you posted.

Friday:) Food, Fun, and Some Not So Friendly Skies

20 May

“Thunderstorms are as much our friends as the sunshine.”

― Criss Jami, Killosophy

It’s funny, when someone asks me if I like Mexican food, I say, “We just call it food. We’re Mexican.” Maybe a little bit of a joke, but it’s mostly true. Pretty much anything tastes great when placed in a tortilla. Don’t even get me started on avocados.

Road trip fun…

Not so friendly skies…

Friday:) Friendly Skies, a Feather and a Penny

17 Sep

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” ― Rabindranath Tagore

******************

I walked this morning for about an hour and a half. It was hot and muggy, but walking is always my thinking time. While I was striding along, I saw a young woman on the other side of the road. I crossed the street, introduced myself, and started chatting. She didn’t live in the neighborhood, but was just walking while her daughter was at a dance lesson. With no particular agenda, I just walked her direction, so we walked down some streets I normally don’t travel. That’s when I found a lucky penny in the street. I haven’t found one in a while. “The road less traveled.”

Later, when I had lunch with my friend Diane, we walked out the door, and there on the sidewalk by my feet, was lucky feather.

When I got home, I was exhausted. I was up till almost 3 a.m. after painting a dozen wine glasses all night. I decided to take a leisurely lap around 4. When I woke up, it was already 6:45 and it would be getting dark soon. I almost talked myself out of my evening walk, but I really love to capture the evening skies and the sunset on my walks. Every evening is a work of art. I scrambled, put on my gym shoes, and ran out the door. Well worth the effor. THE FRIENDLY SKIES.

These are all from my one hour walk. The grand finale was the Harvest Moon in the night sky.

Now, you can see why I love my evening walks and THE FRIENDLY SKIES.

Tuesday:) Today’s Sky~ Things Are Looking Up

7 Sep

“In the sky there are always answers and explanations for everything: every pain, every suffering, joy and confusion.” ― Ishmael Beah

*************

The sky always has an explanation. I’m not sure what the question is, but there’s an answer if you just look up. The key is to look up. Always look up.

A few of my views…always looking up…

Theme Song Thursday:) Under Texas Skies

4 Mar

“Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer the goal.” ― Elbert Hubbard

We’ve had some beautiful warm weather here in McKinney, Texas. I went to Zumba at the Y this morning, then a nice long walk at 10. The sun was shining and the wind was strong, but exhilarating. I was pumped, and decided to get some massive housework done. I cleaned two bathrooms from stem to stern, including floors, mopped all the tile floors in hall and kitchen, and vacuumed. All this before I ate lunch…well, lunch was at 2.

I was going to try and do some painting, but I decided an evening walk would be better served. Plus, I like to catch the sunset. It’s true… The skies at night are big and bright…da-da-da-da… Deep in the heart of Texas.

Every sunset is a miracle in the sky.

Wednesday Words of Wisdom:What One Thing Are You Grateful For Today?

14 May
“It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.”
― Arthur Conan DoyleThe Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes

“Wake every morning with at least one thing to be grateful for, and it will be a great day.”
~ Toni Andrukaitis
***************
Another rainy gloomy day, but did this get me down? No! I looked in the mirror and said to myself, “Self.” I really didn’t say that, but I did say, “It’s going to be a great day.” Really, if you say that out loud, it works on your brain.

I had a nice lunch with friends. Ginger arranged a lunch meeting, and I was so excited that Miss Vicky, who I haven’t seen in ages, was there with her sweet smile and snappy sense of humor. Krys couldn’t join us, but stopped by just for a hug and to say hello. I was near Hobby Lobby, so I got my crafting withdrawal fix without spending too much.

The rain continued, so I couldn’t get out for my walk. Bummer. BUT, my neighbor Diane invited me over for a glass of wine and to watch the rain from her back porch.

Grey skies or blue, take the time to be grateful. What are you thankful for today?

Saturday Skies: Calm Before the Storm

19 Apr

“When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

*******************

A beautiful Saturday morning and afternoon. On my early evening walk, the fluffy white clouds swirled into dark grey walls. I don’t use head phones, or listen to music while I walk. The glorious colors of the seasons and rhythmic dancing skies are enough entertainment for me.

The calm before the storm…

The storm rolling in…

An ever changing sky in a matter of moments. A metaphor on life.
