Hi! My name is Toni Andrukaitis. I am a writer, artist, crafter and all around happy person. I have always enjoyed painting, telling stories and writing, so what better way to express myself, than in a blog? I have no specific agenda, but enjoy writing about whatever knocks me over the head that day. I’ve also found some very interesting bloggers on this site. Never stop learning!

Book Launch: McKinney, Texas, June 5, 2021

    Media Release:

    No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here
Written and illustrated by Dawn Secord
    Children’s Picture Book

HEADLINE: Award winning show dog becomes beloved children’s book character.

Bling, a real life Irish Setter, once starring in the show ring, is now starring in a children’ s picture book series. Children are drawn to Bling with her large, gentle, soft brown eyes and her flowing mahogany hair. As a result, this story, featuring a real dog, allows an instant connection with her book’s young audience. This particular breed of dog is known not only for their beauty, but as a family dog who is fun loving, rollicking and loyal. This wonderful combination of splendor and cheerfulness appeals to children of all ages.

Bling’s owner, Dawn Secord, has created a gem with her first children’s picture book, No Ghoulish Monsters Here. An award winning artist/illustrator, and fourth generation canine enthusiast, Mrs. Secord has established a large audience through social media, her websites and multiple blogs. Bling has quite a social media following and popularity as well. Children run to Mrs. Secord at dog shows and request to meet their favorite squirrel watcher, treat eater, and ever expressive, Bling. Quoting Mrs. Secord, “I wanted to write this book with Bling as the main character. Through Bling, I will be able to share the love of dogs as well as promote children’s literacy with a character in which children are not only drawn but could meet in real life. I hope parents and teachers will love the book as much as I do.”

In this premier book, Bling faces her first true responsibility and depending on teamwork, she successfully finds her inner confidence while saving the day. Bling helps children to see it is okay to be afraid; it is okay to face new experiences. The children will go on to find that through teamwork, more can be accomplished. By learning to trust in themselves; they can discover they are able to accomplish anything they set a goal to do. An added bonus to the book is the free accompanying and downloadable lesson plan. The lesson plan will assist parents and teachers in making this book not only a story book, but an educational tool as well.
